Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits absorption of cholesterol and vegetal sterol through protein in small intestinal cells, and lowers cholesterol content in the liver. It consequently reduces cholesterol in the blood.

It is usually used in the treatment of hypercholesterolemia, familial hypercholesterolemia and homozygous sitosterolemia.
