This medicine is a macrolide antibiotic, and shows antibacterial effect by inhibiting protein synthesis of bacteria.

It is usually used in the treatment of wide-range infections such as dermatological infections, respiratory infections, gastrointestinal infections and otorhinological infections, and disseminated Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) associated with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).
