Effects of this medicine

This medicine selectively acts on, among receptors activated by a substance called serotonin (5-HT), the 5-HT1F receptor to inhibit the pain transmission pathway in the brain, which is the pathogenesis of migraine attacks, as well as to suppress the release of substances causing inflammation and pain from the trigeminal nerve in the periphery.

It is usually used to treat migraine attacks. It is not a medicine for the preventive treatment of migraine.
