Effects of this medicine

This medicine promotes bile secretion and improves the bile flow, resulting in dissolving or suppressing production of cholesterol gallstones. It also improves liver functions by increasing blood flow in the liver and protecting the liver and indigestion by promoting fat absorption.

It is usually used as a cholagogue for hepatobiliary (bile duct/gallbladder) diseases and liver diseases accompanied by cholestasis, or to improve liver function in chronic liver diseases, to improve indigestion as an aftereffect of small intestine resection/in inflammatory diseases of the small intestine, to dissolve cholesterol gallstones with no calcified shell, and to improve liver function in primary biliary cirrhosis/chronic hepatitis C.
