Effects of this medicine
This medicine is a vitamin B12 agent which involves widely in metabolism. It plays an important role for normal growth, hematopoiesis and myelination at neural tissue.
It is usually used for the prevention and treatment of vitamin B12 deficiency, for supplement in case of increasing of vitamin B12 demand and insufficient vitamin B12 intake from meals (wasting disease, hyperthyroidism, expectant mother and nursing mother), and for treatment of macrocytic anemia, diphyllobothriasis latum, neuropathy accompained with pernicinous anemia, malabsorption syndrome (sprue, etc.) and diseases which vitamin B12 difficiency or metabolic abnormality are estimated to participate in (nutritional/gestational anemia, postgastrectomy anemia, anemia accompained with hepatic disorder, leukopenia caused by radiation, neuralgia, peripheral neuritis and peripheral nerve palsy).
