This medicine is a macrolide antibiotic and shows antibacterial effects by inhibiting protein synthesis of bacteria.

It is usually used to treat a wide range of infections such as skin infections, respiratory infections and otolaryngologic infections, and nontuberculous mycobacteriosis including Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) infection.
