This medicine is taken in mitochondria in myocardial cells and acts directly to ischemic myocardium to improve the myocardial energy metabolism in low-oxygen conditions and to utilize oxygen efficacy. It increases the cardiac systole, and improves symptoms such as shortness of breath or difficulty in breathing.

It is usually used to improve mild / moderate congestive heart failure symptoms during process of basic treatments.
