Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits the enzyme (DPP-4) which degrades incretin, a hormone acting to maintain constant blood glucose level.

It enhances insulin secretion and suppresses glucagon secretion to improve blood glucose control when blood glucose level is elevated.

It is usually used for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus.
