This medicine is active vitamin D3 itself. It elevates blood calcium level by promoting calcium absorption, improves bone metabolic turnover and promotes bone formation.
It is usually used to treat osteoporosis and improve various symptoms associated with abnormal vitamin D metabolism in patients with chronic renal failure/hypoparathyroidism/rickets/osteomalacia.
