Effects of this medicine

This medicine improves mitochondrial dysfunction related to cell energy production etc., and suppresses stroke-like episodes.

It is usually used for prevention of stroke-like episodes of MELAS (mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and stroke-like episodes).

This medicine regulates/activates the action of cardiac muscle/liver cells, and stimulates the excretion of bile acid. It consequently maintains the normal cardiac/hepatic function.

It is also usually used to improve hepatic function in hyperbilirubinemic (excluding obstructive jaundice) patients or to treat congestive heart failure.
