Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits synthesis of herpes simplex and varicella/herpes zoster virus DNA, suppressing their growth.

It is usually used to treat herpes simplex, herpes zoster, varicella (in children only) and to suppress the development of herpes simplex virus infection (herpes simplex) associated with hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and the recurrence of genital herpes (in children only).
