Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits sodium/calcium reabsorption in renal tubule to show diuretic effect. It consequently reduces circulatory blood flow by diuretic effect to decrease blood pressure.

It is usually used to treat hypertension (essential, renal), malignant hypertension, cardiac edema (congestive heart failure), renal edema, hepatic edema and brain edema. It is also used to facilitate the excretion of urinary calculi.
