Injection: Used as a solvent diluent for injection solutions in cases of extracellular fluid deficiency, sodium deficiency, or chloride deficiency.

Topical Application: Used for cleaning and applying to the skin, wounds, and mucous membranes. Also used as a spray inhalant to clean the bronchial mucosa and promote expectoration.

Other Uses: Used for cleaning medical instruments.
