Effects of this medicine

This medicine actuates GHS-R1a (GROWTH HORMONE SECRETAGOGUE RECEPTOR type 1a), known as Ghrelin receptor, acts on appetite center in brain and thus promotes appetite. It also makes muscle and increases body weight by acting on pituitary gland and promoting secretion of growth hormone.

It is usually used to treat the symptoms of cancer cachexia (loss of appetite and body weight loss) due to non-small cell lung cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer and colorectal cancer.
