Effects of this medicine

This medicine inhibits the enzyme which degrades incretin, a hormone adjusting blood glucose levels, and promotes insulin secretion according to blood glucose levels.

This medicine also suppresses production of glucose in the liver and promotes the use of glucose in the muscles, resulting in better blood sugar control.

It is usually used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus.
